× The Contacts application is brand new. Because we’re working on improving it daily, what you see in the documentation may differ slightly from what you see in the app.
There are certain situations in which you'll want to add one lead or customer to the Contacts tool, without having to upload a spreadsheet to HubSpot.
  • When you meet a prospect in person and get their business card
  • When a lead puts you in touch with a colleague
  • When you close a deal with a prospect who was not in your Contacts database

In HubSpot, you can easily add one contact at a time to your Contacts tool. Here's how:

1. Go to your Contacts tool

Start with your Contacts tool.

Edit the Lifecycle Stage field. By default, all new contacts will be marked as Leads. If you're adding a customer, select Customer.

4. Select the contact's lifecycle stage

If this contact is a customer, edit the Close Date field so that your Sources metrics will accurately reflect when each of your contacts became a customer.
